Alberobello & Valle d'Itria | UNESCO Trulli, Masseria Retreats, and Puglia VIP

May 26, 2026 · 5 min read · FFGR Italia VIP Team

Alberobello's trulli, conical limestone dwellings unique to the Itria Valley, are UNESCO World Heritage since 1996. The surrounding Valle d'Itria is home to the most exclusive masserie (fortified farmhouse estates) in southern Italy. FFGR Italia manages BDS (Brindisi) arrivals, private trullo village access, and masseria transfers for mandates combining architecture, gastronomy, and Adriatic coast logistics.

The Trulli of Alberobello | Architecture UNESCO 1996

The trulli of Alberobello are dry-stone constructions with conical grey roofs, built without mortar under a feudal system that allowed rapid disassembly to avoid property taxes. Approximately 1,500 trulli survive in the Rione Monti and Rione Aia Piccola districts of Alberobello: the only inhabited trulli settlement in the world. The whitewashed walls, pinnacled conical roofs, and alchemical symbols (whitewashed on some apexes) make them immediately recognisable globally.

FFGR Italia arranges private early-morning access (06:30) before the tourist peak, with a local guide specialising in trullo construction history and the feudal system of the Counts of Acquaviva. The circuit includes: access to the Trullo Sovrano (the only two-storey trullo in Alberobello, 1744, now a museum), the Siamese Trulli (two conjoined, considered the architectural symbol of the Itria Valley), and a private trullo property (non-museum) for interior viewing.

Masseria Il Frantoio | Ostuni's Defining Estate

Masseria Il Frantoio (SS16, Ostuni) is the flagship masseria of the Itria Valley: a working olive oil estate (800-year-old trees, 50,000 plants, 80 tons of production annually) with 12 guest rooms, a farm kitchen restaurant, and a 16th-century olive press still visible in the main building. The estate's olive oil production (September-November harvest) can be observed privately for guests staying during the oleoteca season.

FFGR Italia coordinates masseria arrivals from BDS (Brindisi, 30 min by Rolls-Royce), BRI (Bari, 1h10), or by helicopter from NAP (Naples, 50 min). The masseria dinner (communal table, fixed menu, estate produce) can be privatised for groups of 10+ with advance notice.

Borgo Egnazia | The Itria Valley Resort Standard

Borgo Egnazia (Contrada Masciola, Fasano) is the most internationally recognised resort in southern Italy: 183 rooms and suites in a purpose-built Apulian village, voted one of the top 10 resort hotels globally by Condé Nast Traveller for 6 consecutive years. The spa (Vair Spa, 2,500m²) uses Apulian ritual bathing protocols. The cooking school (with locally sourced Puglian ingredients) is available for private mandates.

FFGR Italia transfers from BDS airport to Borgo Egnazia in 25 minutes. For clients arriving by private aviation, the nearest GA apron is BDS (Papola Casale, 30km from Fasano). Helicopter from BDS to the Fasano landing zone takes 8 minutes.
