Courmayeur | Italy's Answer to Verbier
Courmayeur sits at 1,224m on the Italian side of the Mont Blanc massif, 18km from Chamonix via the Mont Blanc Tunnel. While the French side draws the ski racing circuit, Courmayeur draws a different clientele: Italian aristocracy, Milanese industrialists, and international UHNW visitors who prize discretion over spectacle. The village is compact, pedestrianised, and architecturally coherent, no high-rise blocks, no mass-market resort infrastructure.
FFGR Italia operates transfers from Milan Malpensa (MXP, 2h15 by Rolls-Royce Ghost), Turin (TRN, 1h45), and Geneva (GVA, 1h30). Private helicopter from MXP Malpensa Prime to Courmayeur helipad takes 28 minutes. The Aosta Valley regional heliport accepts commercial charter landings for clients connecting onward by ground.
Skyway Monte Bianco | 3,466m Above the Valley
The Skyway Monte Bianco cable car (inaugurated 2015, entirely rebuilt from the 1947 original) carries passengers from Courmayeur village (1,224m) to Punta Helbronner (3,466m) in two stages. The cabins rotate 360° during ascent: journey time 18 minutes. At 3,466m, the panoramic terrace offers unobstructed views of the Grandes Jorasses, the Matterhorn, and the Monte Rosa massif.
For FFGR clients, we arrange private morning access before public opening (07:30 departure), a private guide for the glacier walk on the Italian-French border, and a catered breakfast at the Helbronner summit restaurant. The adjacent Glacier du Géant is accessible on foot with crampons, full guiding and equipment provided.
Heliski | Mont Blanc Off-Piste Access
Heliski in the Aosta Valley operates under regional quota: approximately 200 authorised helicopter drops per day across all operators. Season: late December to mid-April. Primary zones: Vallée Blanche descent (20km, 2,800m vertical drop, the longest skiable descent in the Alps), the Toula Glacier couloirs, and the Grandes Jorasses north face approaches.
FFGR Italia coordinates with two licensed Aosta Valley heliski operators. Our mandate: arrange quota slots 48-72h in advance, brief with mountain guides at Grand Hotel Royal the night before, provide avalanche-rated outerwear if needed, and coordinate the post-descent lunch at Rifugio Torino (3,375m) or Rifugio Monzino (2,590m). Grand Hotel Royal & Golf | The Courmayeur Address
The Grand Hotel Royal & Golf (Via Roma 87) has been Courmayeur's flagship address since 1850. 84 rooms and suites, indoor pool, spa with sauna and hammam, and a private ski storage room with boot heating racks. The hotel's garage accommodates the FFGR fleet directly: no street parking, no public exposure.
Alternative: Villa Novecento (boutique, 26 rooms, 1914 Liberty-style villa on Via Roma). For group mandates (10+ guests), we arrange exclusive use of La Maison de Filippo, a 90-seat restaurant in Entrèves with private dining rooms, 12 minutes from the Grand Hotel. Dinner reservation managed as part of the FFGR mandate.
The Cheval Blanc Courchevel Corridor
A growing segment of FFGR clientele combines Courmayeur with Courchevel in a single Alpine circuit: arrive MXP, 2 days Courmayeur heliski, Mont Blanc Tunnel transit to Chamonix (12 min), Sallanches RHV helipad transfer to Courchevel 1850 Altiport (45 min), 3 nights Cheval Blanc Courchevel, return to GVA or LYS for onward private aviation.
We manage the full corridor: bookings, logistics, ski guide continuity, Franco-Italian mountain rescue coordination. The cross-border mandate requires bilingual operations staff and multi-jurisdiction insurance documentation. Both are standard within FFGR Italia's executive protocol division.
