Florence's ZTL — The Most Complex in Italy
Florence operates six overlapping ZTL zones, each with its own enforcement logic. Zone A covers the historic centre and is active 24 hours a day, 7 days a week for non-authorised vehicles — with no exceptions for hotel guests or event attendees. Zone B extends the restriction to the surrounding medieval streets. Zone O (Oltrarno) covers the left bank of the Arno. The Obiettivo zone applies along specific arteries during rush hours. The Notturna zone activates from 23:00 to 06:00 in the nightlife corridors. Zone Bollo covers the broader inner ring.
Camera enforcement is total: 76 entry points with ANPR cameras log every plate. Fines range from €87 for a first offence to €345 for repeat violations, plus a potential 2-month driving ban for foreign-registered vehicles entering without a valid permit. For a client arriving at the Uffizi at 19:30 for a private curator-led tour of the Botticelli rooms, the vehicle is positioned at the correct Loggiato entrance, the driver has the museum contact's number, and the post-visit collection is timed to the tour end — not to an estimated departure.
Oltrarno — The Quieter Side
The Oltrarno — literally "beyond the Arno" — is Florence's left-bank neighbourhood, less trafficked than the historic centre and home to Palazzo Pitti, the Boboli Gardens, and some of the city's finest artisan workshops. Pitti Uomo & Art Week

During Pitti week, the Fortezza becomes the epicentre of international menswear buying, and the surrounding streets absorb thousands of industry professionals simultaneously.

How to Book
Florence requires a minimum 48-hour notice for any ZTL-zone hotel drop-off — not because of our scheduling, but because the Comune di Firenze permit system requires pre-registration of the journey with the vehicle's plate and the client's destination. For same-day bookings to ZTL addresses, we cannot guarantee legal access: we will not expose our clients to fines by entering without a valid permit.
